Travelling with SILBERSALZ35 is dead easy when you pay attention to a few things:
+ Have your film with you in the carry-on baggage instead of the checked baggage.
+X-Ray scanners for the carry-on baggage are way weaker than the ones for checked baggage.
+Most carry-on baggage scanners are safe for film up to 1600 ISO.
+Yes: try to ask politely for a hand check instead of getting your film scanned. If they reject your request, try to ask for their supervisor and ask him or her. Stay friendly!
+ If they agree, they will do an explosives check by hand and your film will not be scanned.
+If not, you can still be 99% sure that your film won’t be harmed.
And: try to give your film a cool surrounding whenever you can 🙂
A more detailed guide on travelling with Film is supplied by Kodak here:https://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/tib/tib5201.shtml
We want your films to have a safe and fast journey to you! In the UK and Greece we have lost an exceptionally high number of packages due to several services we have tried out. This is why we have chosen a reliable courier service only in these countries. This results in higher shipping costs, but the packages have a safer journey and will reach you within 48 hours after shipping. We are working on cheaper alternatives.
Try to order together with others to save shipping costs!;)
The return sticker is just an address label.
For the return shipping you have to pay on your own.
Just send your exposed films to:
Silbersalz Film GmbH
Nauheimer Straße 69a
We recommend to insure the shipping and set up a tracking for a safer shipment.
Silbersalz35 provides you with jpg and tiff scans of your pictures. To give you the highest possible quality, these tiffs are up to 360 MB big. We separate the pictures in 4 folders for an easier download.
Nevertheless you need a fast internet connection for downloading a folder of them.
We don’t provide smaller versions of the tiff pictures.
We recommend to overexpose SILBERSALZ35 films by one stop.
In case you choose the bleach bypass method for processing, we recommend exposing SILBERSALZ35 by box speed.

BBP is for brave SILBERSALZ35 users only. It provides a even more cinematic and unique look.
For BBP processing we skip the bleach bath for processing. Why? Skipping the bleach bath gives you a lot more contrast and way less saturation, especially in the reds and blues.
Some notable cinematographers that have used Bleach bypass are Darius Khondji, Dariusz Wolski, Walter Carvalho, Oliver Stapleton, Newton Thomas Sigel, and Janusz Kamiński (notably on Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan and Minority Report).
When using BBP, we recommend exposing SILBERSALZ35 by box speed.
It’s easy. For no more than 50 bucks you can get a beautiful analog camera.
For beginners, we recommend the Canon AE-1.
Of course you can shoot SILBERSALZ35 in cameras with DX-Code reading.
If you can’t set your ISO-Setting manually please follow these steps:
+Check your cameras manual for the native ISO value which is set automatically when the camera doesn’t read a DX-Code.
+ Simply use your cameras exposure compensation to set the exposure right.
(Example: Your camera has a native ISO of 100. You are using a 50 ISO Film which you want to overexpose by one stop. This means you rate your film with 25 ISO. Set your exposure compensation to +2 stops to achieve a perfect result)
+ If your camera doesn’t support exposure compensation you can simply use an external light meter.
Film likes it chilly. Exposed and unexposed film should be stored using your original SILBERSALZ35 pack in the fridge (13 °C or below).

Exposed AND unexposed film should be stored using the original SILBERSALZ35 pack in the fridge at 13 °C or below.
You can, although we do not recommend it.
Each pack of SILBERSALZ35 comes with one cycle of processing. A processing cycle includes up to four cartridges. You can send us less than four cartridges but this still counts as one full cycle.
Also you have to mind that every special developing option (like Bleach Bypass or pushing and pulling the films) goes with a full pack of four films.
No. SILBERSALZ35 film is designed to be processed with the real cinefilm ECN2-process only. Your local lab is certainly using the simpler and lower-quality C-41 process for development.
Please be aware that true cinefilm can harm regular C-41 processing machines.
Sure. We are based in lovely Stuttgart, Germany. If you are nearby just drop us a mail: [email protected]

We worked hard on adapting the whole process of analog motion picture productions for your photos.
The CINESTILL proprietary “Premoval” process makes motion picture film safe to process in standard C-41 photo chemicals. Our tests show that C-41 processing results in degraded color and contrast rendition.
SILBERSALZ35 are the actual, unchanged motion picture stocks used for films like ‘Dunkirk’,’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ or ‘Wonder Woman’, with true cinefilm chemical processing (ECN2). For scanning we are also using state-of-the-art cine equipment. For digital post processing we only use our own unique color science.
This is our little secret. Don’t ask again!
21 Megapixels. 13 stops of dynamic range and 16 bit color depth.
